Hip Hop Cartoons

One of the reasons Pop Lock and Learn began making music to educate children was that we noticed the commercial art form of hip hop had been hijacked by the criminal minded.  We really couldn\’t imagine being 6 years old, seeing and hearing what they play on radio and tv. The violence alone that is perpetrated on radio and television was hard enough for us as adults to decipher as to what was entertainment versus real, how would those little minds be adversely shaped by what they were taking in? We wanted to do our bit to swing the pendulum of the art form in a positive direction. The truth is that hip hop, like no other musical genre, can be used as a vehicle to educate, create positive change or simply have fun.  Through this blog, we will bring you all of the above starting with the latter.

Alex Gorosh has created a project called WordWorms in which he takes old public-domain cartoons and remixes them, adding his own beats and lyrics to create fun rap cartoons geared towards kids.  Take a look at the video below.
